5月17日，王蕾团队邀请来自爱丁堡大学的Ondrej Masek教授来做报告，讲座由王蕾研究员主持，本次讲座吸引了多位老师同学参加。
讲座以“Biochar and its multifaceted applications and role in climate change mitigation and adaptation”为题，报告了“Biochar holds immense promise as a means of storing atmospheric carbon, with estimates ranging from 0.7 to 1.8 Gt CO2-C(eq) per year. This presentation aims to illuminate the pathways for realizing and amplifying this potential while curtailing adverse environmental and economic repercussions. We will delve into the integration of biomass pyrolysis within bioenergy systems and negative emission technologies, along with selected biochar applications in agriculture, horticulture, construction, engineering, and environmental sectors. Emphasis will be placed on aligning biochar properties with application-specific requirements and mitigating the challenges and risks of producing and using biochar derived from diverse biomass sources. Furthermore, we will explore the concept of sequential biochar applications, along with the challenges and opportunities it presents in a circular economy framework.”
